State Representative Tracy Marra (R-141) today applauded the state Bond Commission for authorizing $500,000 to assist with ongoing local efforts to create permanent, safe, and effective flood mitigation projects in parts of Darien that were severely damaged during severe flooding in 2021.

“This is great news for Darien and certainly for the people on Salt Box Lane and the surrounding areas which have experienced dangerous conditions and severe damage as a result of undersized storm drains, flooding, and water intrusion,” Rep. Tracy Marra said. “I want to thank the Governor and Bond Commission for approving these funds and helping Darien to begin making these important safety changes.”

According to supporting documents on the Bond Commission’s agenda, the money will be used to repair undersized drains and reconfigure pathways to remove excess water in case of severe storms. The project will also “ensure medical and emergency care will be able to access members of the community.”

The total cost of the project is expected to be about $7 Million.
