Prior to a panel discussion on the country’s mental health crisis, State Representative Tracy Marra was fortunate to spend a few minutes talking with former US Congressman Patrick Kennedy during a pre-event reception at the Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center Wednesday night.

A guest of Silver Hill Hospital CEO and Medical Director Andrew Gerber, former Congressman Kennedy was in Stamford for a talk and panel discussion on the mental health crisis, and to press for increasing access to services and to encourage stakeholders, including legislators, to continue to work together to help those who are struggling.  Kennedy also discussed his recently-released book, “Profiles in Mental Health Courage” before signing copies and speaking one-on-one with attendees.

According to a synopsis: “This important work uses the real stories of 12 individuals to illustrate the heroic struggles of those with mental illness and how they are failed by a broken health care system that discriminates against them.”

State Representatives Tom O’Dea, Jason Perillo, and Keith Denning were joined by local dignitaries and elected officials.

If you think this might be about your child, you might be right. Do you have a child between the ages of 8 and 16? Do they ride a bike, e-bike, electric scooter, or motorized mini-vehicle? These have become incredibly popular among kids—and understandably so. After remote learning and limited social interaction, it’s refreshing to […]
