    Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The public hearing process in Hartford is moving along quickly and there are several ways for you to participate and make your voice heard. You can find details about the bills under consideration by visiting each legislative Committee’s page on the General Assembly’s website. Each committee also has their own YouTube Channel linked on the committee page.

During the 2023 legislative session, public meetings and hearings at the Legislative Office Building may be held virtually or in-person/hybrid. As always, you are encouraged to participate and this year submitting written testimony is even easier than in the past.

    How to Testify

There are a few ways you can submit testimony.

In Writing – A form to submit written testimony online can be found by clicking a link on the left-hand side of each specific committee webpage. The form asks for basic information, including your full name, the bill number, public hearing date, etc. It is important to also include your address and a definitive statement of support or opposition to the bill you’re testifying about.

    Example:

Live Testimony – Most committees are hosting hybrid meetings, meaning you can testify in-person, in Hartford, or via Zoom from your computer. To register to testify in person, click on “public hearing agendas” and select the date of the hearing. Information regarding each specific public hearing and a “Register to Speak” link will be located there.

    Example:

Bill status information is always available on the General Assembly’s website (www.cga.ct.gov).

I Saw Your Kid Almost Die Today

If you think this might be about your child, you might be right. Do you have a child between the ages of 8 and 16? Do they ride a bike, e-bike, electric scooter, or motorized mini-vehicle? These have become incredibly popular among kids—and understandably so. After remote learning and limited social interaction, it’s refreshing to […]
