    It’s never a bad thing to say you’re sorry, and that’s why State Representative Tracy Marra (R-141) is hosting a new board game collection to help Norwalk’s Filling in the Blanks meet their goal of providing winter break backpacks to children in need.

    Filling in the Blanks collects and distributes thousands of weekend meals to local children, and during the holiday break they provide new backpacks filled with supplies including food, activities, and games to make the school break better for thousands of kids. This year, they’re collecting the game of Sorry.

    “I arranged this board game collection to provide a little help to the incredible volunteers who keep Filling in the Blanks moving and serving thousands of area children, especially coming into the holiday season when the need grows,” Rep. Marra said. “My family loves to play games together, and my hope is that this drive collects hundreds of games and provides hours of fun and smiles for kids over their school break.”

    The donation runs from now until October 27th and collection boxes are located in the Darien Town Hall and Rowayton Library.  If you would like to help, please purchase a NEW, UNOPENED game of “Sorry” and drop it into one of those boxes.  The Darien Toy Box has also graciously agreed to collect and hold games purchased in the store.

    What: “Sorry” Board Game Collection to Benefit Filling in the Blanks

    When: Through October 27th

    Where: Collection boxes are available at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Rd., Darien;

    Rowayton Public Library, 33 Highland Ave., Norwalk

    Filling in the Blanks is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2013 by mothers and community activists, Shawnee Knight and Tina Kramer, as a way to marry their loves of community, children, food and charity.  They currently serve more than 200 sites around Fairfield and Westchester Counties and have delivered more than two million-weekend meals to children in low-income households. Ninety nine percent of their food is purchased with money raised through grants, donations, and fundraisers. Currently, they serve more than 5,500 children but expect the need to grow to 7,000 rapidly.

    I Saw Your Kid Almost Die Today

    If you think this might be about your child, you might be right. Do you have a child between the ages of 8 and 16? Do they ride a bike, e-bike, electric scooter, or motorized mini-vehicle? These have become incredibly popular among kids—and understandably so. After remote learning and limited social interaction, it’s refreshing to […]
