Gives unchecked authority to mandate vaccines to a single unelected bureaucrat.
Prevents parents from challenging the 2021 religious exemption repeal.
Governor Lamont's bill (H.B. 5044)—which would give his Public Health Commissioner unchecked authority to mandate vaccines for schoolchildren, bypassing the legislature entirely—has been folded into a new bill, S.B. 450. But that's not all. S.B. 450 also includes a separate attack on religious liberty pushed by Attorney General Tong and Democrat leadership. Connecticut removed the religious exemption for school vaccines in 2021. Parents who believe that removal violated their religious freedom rights have been pursuing legal action under the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a law that has been on the books since 1993. This bill would strip away their ability to bring that claim.
