Southington- Connecticut State Representative Brian Lanoue (R-45) was honored Friday evening by the Family Institute of Connecticut (FIC) as the recipient of its 2026 Charles Stetson Award, which recognizes courage in advancing pro-family causes.

Lanoue received the award at FIC’s annual banquet in recognition of his leadership on behalf of the unborn, including his efforts this year to secure a public hearing on parental notification legislation after more than 35 years of failed attempts.

“I’m deeply honored to receive the Charles Stetson Award from the Family Institute of Connecticut,” said Rep. Lanoue. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to stand up for parents, children, and the unborn.”

During the 2026 legislative session, Lanoue introduced H.B. No. 5309, legislation concerning notification to a parent or guardian when a minor seeks pregnancy-related health care services and testified before the Judiciary Committee in support of the bill. Supporters called the bill’s public hearing a historic moment.

Family Institute of Connecticut Executive Director Peter Wolfgang praised Lanoue’s work, saying, “Rep. Brian Lanoue is our hero this year because he helped accomplish something Connecticut pro-lifers have been trying to accomplish for over 35 years: getting a public hearing on parental notification of abortion.”

The Charles Stetson Award is presented annually to an individual who has shown exceptional courage in a pro-family fight.

“This was a wonderful event, and I cannot thank everyone enough for allowing me to be a part of something this meaningful for Connecticut families,” Lanoue concluded.
