Griswold's Ryan Aubin Receives Legislative Citation from Rep. Lanoue & Senator Somers

Key Takeaways
- Griswold's Ryan Aubin was honored for his commitment to the community
On Friday, it was a pleasure to join Senator Somers in presenting a citation to Ryan Aubin in recognition of his years of dedicated service to the Town of Griswold. We were honored to present this recognition during the talent show at the youth summer camp program Ryan leads at Griswold Elementary School!
For nearly two decades, Ryan has made a difference in the lives of Griswold residents, especially its children, youth, and families. During his 19 years as Director of Parks and Recreation, he oversaw the Griswold Youth and Family Center, helped manage the town’s public parks, and organized countless recreational programs for our residents.
Ryan also served as Griswold’s Youth Services Bureau Director, where he worked to support young people and families throughout the community. His leadership helped make Griswold’s Parks & Recreation Department one of the very best in all of eastern Connecticut, and his commitment to the community has made him a mentor, friend, and role model to many.
With an associate’s degree from Thre Rivers Community College, a Master of Science in Recreation and Leisure from Southern Connecticut State University, and certifications from both the National Recreation and Park Association and the Connecticut Recreation and Park Association.
I also want to personally note how much I appreciate Ryan’s support for my bill requiring background checks for all children’s camp employees. While this was already something he had implemented, he was one of the first people to support the bill without hesitation.
Now, he will begin an exciting new chapter as a full-time faculty member! We thank Ryan for all he has done for Griswold and wish him continued success.
Congratulations, Ryan! Keep smiling!
