Lisbon: Saturday Food Drive a Success to Help Those In Need

Posted on November 22, 2023

On Saturday, there was a great turnout at the food drive at Adams Market (Better Val-U) in Lisbon. The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut was accepting food and cash donations to help those in our community that are in need.

Thank you to the Boy Scouts Troop 73, the Gemma Moran Food Center, K Hits 100.9 FM, the Jewett City Savings Bank and Adams Market for the great team effort supporting our communities. The Gemma Moran Food Center has grown over the years and is considered the hub of food banks in New London County.

With many food banks across our state seeing an increased demand since COVID, the center has become instrumental in the community where 2 million pounds are distributed annually. The food center impacts over 20,000 residents of New London County monthly.

This just goes to show you the importance of these events in our area.
