NAUGATUCK – State Representatives David Labriola (R-131) and Rosa C. Rebimbas (R-70) hosted a successful food drive to benefit the Ecumenical Food Bank.

The one-week event took place between Thursday, September 24 and October 1st with all donations going to help local families through the Ecumenical Food Bank. The legislators also collected food and donations at the Naugatuck Senior Center on Thursday, October 1, 2015.

In recent years there has been an increased need for assistance. Currently, the food bank serves 740 families and individuals, with new requests for assistance each week. Since January of this year, 140 new families have been served – doubling the number of families who were provided with assistance last year. The Food Bank has served 69,855 meals and 9,928 bags of food so far this year.

“We have very dedicated people who keep our operations running and I can’t thank the people of Naugatuck enough for their continued support of our mission to help those in need,” Marty Fenton, director of the Ecumenical Food Bank, said.
