State Representatives Rosa C. Rebimbas (R-70) and David Labriola (R-131) today applauded the approval of a $400,000 federal grant which will help the Borough rehabilitate approximately 22 households.

“I’m pleased the state and federal government are making this money available to rehabilitate properties in the Borough,” Rep. Rebimbas said. “Taking care of our housing adds to the quality of life and value of our neighborhoods and I applaud our local departments for taking the time to research and apply for grants like these as they will mean savings in the long run for our local government.

“Reinvesting in our communities is always a good idea and this grant will go a long way toward improving safety and security for our residents,” Rep. Labriola said. “I’m a firm believer that sound investments in infrastructure will benefit everyone in town.”

Rehabilitation projects are expected to include health and safety issues, window replacement and addressing building code deficiencies.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awards are from the federal Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program and administered by Connecticut’s Department of Housing.
