OXFORD – State Rep. David K. Labriola (R-131) today welcomed news of a $400,000 federal grant coming to the town of Oxford.

The town will use the funding launch its Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program to help low- and moderate-income homeowners repair their homes.  Upgrades would include roof replacement, heating systems, window replacement, lead paint and asbestos removal and electrical and code upgrades.

“Housing Rehabilitation programs are essential for maintaining quality of life for our many low and moderate income residents,” Rep. Labriola said. “These funds will help Oxford’s program keep low- and moderate-income homeowners in homes that are healthy, safe, and code compliant.”

The grant is part of $12.8 million awarded to 24 municipalities throughout Connecticut, focusing on senior housing, economic development and other revitalization projects.

The funds come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Small Cities Community Development Block Grant Program, which provides grants to eligible municipalities for economic development, affordable housing, community facilities and other revitalization projects.  The program is administered by Connecticut’s Department of Housing.
