Rep. Labriola speaks about the Oxford Airport Enterprise Zone

Rep. Labriola spoke Tuesday at the annual Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast, where the lawmaker addressed the group’s legislative agenda and listened as attendees asked questions about public policy issues facing the community.

Rep. Labriola remarked about his ongoing efforts with the Oxford Airport Enterprise Zone which would create a special taxing district around the airport in order to encourage economic development in the area. The Zone is aimed at fostering new business development, creating local jobs and generating new municipal and state tax revenues.

Other issues discussed include the merger betweenWaterburyHospitaland St. Mary’s Hospital, thePostUniversityexpansion efforts and the potential impact of the state’s major unfunded pension liabilities.
