Dear Neighbors,

A public hearing will be held on the Governor’s new draft truck-only toll proposal this Friday, January 31st at 1:00 p.m. in Room 1E of the Legislative Office Building. I oppose this proposal.

Public speaker order will be determined by a lottery system. Lottery numbers will be drawn from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 2300 of the LOB. If you can’t make it to the Legislative Office Building, you can email written testimony in Word or PDF format to TRAtestimony@cga.ct.gov. Please copy me on the email – David.Labriola@housegop.ct.gov – or let me know if you plan on testifying in person.

Here are some highlights of the current draft proposal, all of which I oppose.

  • The bill contains a loophole to allow for cars to be tolled in two years
  • Gives more authority to a Transportation Policy Council to decide on rate increases
  • 12 truck-only tolls will be placed at the following locations
    • I-84 in Newtown and Southbury
    • I-84 and Route 8 in Waterbury
    • I-84 in West Hartford
    • Meeting of I-91 and Route 15 at the Charter Oak Bridge in Hartford/East Hartford
    • I-95 in Stamford
    • I-95 in Westport
    • I-95 in West Haven
    • I-95 in East Lyme
    • I-95 over Thames River in New London/Groton
    • I-395 in Plainfield
    • I-684 in Greenwich
    • Route 8 south of the I-84 interchange in Waterbury

Sincerely,

State Rep. David Labriola
