(HARTFORD) — The state’s leading business advocacy group, Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA), has officially released its data illustrating how members of the CT State House of Representatives voted in 2022. According to the association, Representative Kathy Kennedy (R-119) earned a 100% voting score based on her unwavering support of several new pro-business laws.

“It is a great honor to be recognized as an advocate for CT businesses,” said Rep. Kennedy in response to the CBIA report. “Connecticut has become more unaffordable, forcing businesses to raise prices and spend more to survive. It’s my priority to reduce unwanted business mandates that hinder economic growth in our state.”

Each year the CBIA rates Connecticut lawmakers’ voting records in committee or on the House floor concerning an array of ‘key bills’ determined by the association on Connecticut’s business environment and economic stability. Tallied votes that support the business community’s position would reflect positively, while votes in opposition rendered a lower overall score.

The list of bills included issues ranging from developing a plan for women returning to Post-COVID Workplace, addressing Manufacturing Jobs, establishing Licensing Reforms, and creating a Commercial Driver’s License Training program. Rep. Kennedy was featured supporting the business community’s position five times during the 2022 legislative session.

With the recently released CBIA data, Rep. Kennedy will successfully receive her second perfect score (2021, 2022), as voting records from 2020 were not released.

CBIA is Connecticut’s leading business organization — with a membership comprised of hundreds of small, medium and large-sized businesses around the state.

Why I Voted “NO” on the State Budget

Last night, I stood against the State Budget proposal that overspends money we don’t have, raises taxes on businesses and consumers, and makes our state more unaffordable over the next two years. Remember: This budget is a 700+ page document that addresses a wide variety of issues, many of which do NOT reflect our desires […]

Today, I proudly stood with members of the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity, & Opportunity (CWCSEO) and colleagues on the Transportation Committee in support of HB 7159, also known as the Yellow Envelope Bill. This bill will help law enforcement safely communicate with persons who have intellectual and physical disabilities. Each yellow envelope provides […]
