BRISTOL – Rep. Joe Hoxha, R-Bristol, joined members of the Bristol legislative delegation and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz in welcoming $6.8 million in funding for much-needed safety upgrades and other enhancements on Route 72 in Bristol.
The grant, which was approved by the Community Investment Fund 2030 (CIF) Board, will be used toward the city’s Route 72 Corridor Improvement Plan which is focused on pedestrian safety enhancements, traffic calming and streetscape improvements along Riverside Avenue and Park Street.
During a recent press conference held at the corner of routes 72 and 69 to mark the funding allocation, Rep. Hoxha was joined by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Deputy Mayor Cheryl Thibeault, Rep. Mary Fortier and Director of the Community Investment Fund, Matt Pugliese.
“I promised to be a voice and advocate for our small towns and in particular the 78th District (Plymouth and Bristol). I promised I would fight tooth and nail to have our voices be heard; that fight will continue each day in Hartford,” Rep. Hoxha said. “This is a project that we hope will have both economic benefits for the area, and will increase pedestrian safety for nearby residents. I just wanted to thank everyone, including the Lt. Gov., who attended today.”
