Educational choice is a parental choice.

EAST HADDAM — State Representative Irene Haines (R-34) will host a public forum on homeschooling regulations in Connecticut on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the East Haddam Grange Hall, 488 Town Street, East Haddam.

The event, titled “Hands Off Homeschoolers!”, will bring together parents, educators, and legislators for an open discussion on the state’s approach to homeschooling and parental rights in education.

Rep. Haines will be joined by Rep. Tim Ackert (R-8), Rep. Tammy Nuccio (R-53), Rep. Anne Dauphinais (R-44), and Rep. Steve Weir (R-55) for a panel discussion followed by a public Q&A session.

“Educational choice is a parental choice,” said Rep. Haines. “Homeschooling families in Connecticut deserve to have their voices heard and their rights respected. This forum is an opportunity for us to listen, learn, and ensure that parents — not bureaucrats — remain in charge of their child’s education.”

The forum will provide attendees with an opportunity to share their experiences, concerns, and perspectives on homeschooling and proposed state regulations.

The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend.
