Rep. Foncello Shares Food Pantry Resource Information

Rep. Foncello Shares Food Pantry Resource Information

Key Takeaways

  • Rep. Foncello shares local food pantry contacts and hours.
  • Constituents urged to use community resources to address food insecurity.
  • Encourages those who can, to donate to local pantries to help neighbors
  • Local nonprofits and pantries coordinate to streamline help delivery.

SNAP benefits could be impacted by the ongoing federal government shut down. House Minority Leader Vin Candelora has proposed using funding from Connecticut's $4.3 billion dollar Rainy Day Fund to assist families during this lapse, an immediate solution that I also support. The Rainy Day Fund is meant for this type of emergency.

In the meantime, a listing of local food pantries can be found at 211ct.org or at CT Foodshare. These pantries are working to make sure every family has what they need, especially given the current circumstances, and the lead up to the holidays.

If you’re able to, please consider donating nonperishable items, grocery store gift cards, or your time to help these local pantries.

The state Department of Social Services has useful SNAP information on their website.
