The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will be performing tree work on I-84 Eastbound and Westbound in Newtown, beginning Monday, June 12, 2023 and ending Friday, June 30, 2023. All work is scheduled to be performed only on weekday evenings and overnight hours, between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
The project consists of the removal of trees from log mile 15.09 to 11.69 (Exits 9 & 10 East and Westbound).
The DOT has advised that this stretch of highway has been the scene of several recent tree failures, including a Tractor-Trailer impact. This project reestablishes “clear zones” and removes hazardous trees. We have also been advised that the area in question has adequate setbacks and should have no affect on residential homeowners.
Motorists can expect delays and lane closures. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.
** Schedule may vary due to weather-related work-conditions.**
