The Public Safety and Security Committee recently held a public hearing on a variety of bills that have come before the committee. One of which is a bill that Rep. Martin Foncello (R-107) co-sponsored that is of particular importance to municipalities across Connecticut. H.B. 7055 would tax exempt on the first $2,000 in stipends for volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel that is used to promote recruiting and retention.
“With small towns across our state facing challenges finding volunteers to fill critical roles within the fire service, this would be a worth-while investment in the name of public safety,” said Rep. Foncello.
