Rep. Foncello Appointed to New Committees for Second Term in Office

HARTFORD – House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora has appointed State Rep. Martin Foncello (R-Brookfield) to once again be a member of the Appropriations Committee and Education Committee. He will also serve on the Government Administration and Elections Committee. These appointments will be effective when the Connecticut General Assembly convenes for session on Wednesday, January 8, and will remain through the 2026 session.
“I am looking forward to bringing the voices of the people of Bethel, Brookfield, and Newtown directly to my colleagues on the Appropriations Committee as we take on the work of crafting a new, two-year state budget,” said Foncello. “I remain a staunch advocate of lowering taxes for Connecticut residents, while making the state more affordable and safer.”
For his work during the 2024 legislative session as a member of the Early Childhood Caucus, Foncello was named a Children’s Champion by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance.
The Government Administration and Election Committee has cognizance on most matters relating to the Department of Administrative Services, state and federal relations, interstate compacts, constitutional amendments, and all matters relating to elections and election laws.
“Connecticut has moved very quickly on implementing new laws around elections, without taking into consideration the workload on the volunteers who administer elections, the cost on municipalities to implement the new laws, and the security of people’s ballots. I want us to look closely at what has been enacted over the last few years and to think carefully about any new legislation around elections,” said Foncello.
