Rep. Foncello Applauds Small Town Funding Towards Brookfield Town Hall

HARTFORD, CT- Today, Representative Martin Foncello (R-Brookfield) and Senator Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield)commend Governor Lamont for releasing state grants through the Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) for towns across Connecticut. The funding will be used to complete a variety of infrastructure improvements, such as road safety reconstruction projects, sewer and drainage upgrades, sidewalk and pedestrian safety enhancements, recreational facility upgrades, and other capital improvement projects. Brookfield will receive $489,000 in state funding for town hall campus renovations. This will be matched by $100,000 from the town.

“One of the most critical aspects in my role as your state senator is to advocate for our local community’s fair share of state funding,” said Senator Harding. “I am unapologetic about always prioritizing the people of the 30th District, and I will fight to get our communities the funding they need.”

“This grant will greatly benefit our community through this planned recreation addition at the town hall campus,” said Representative Foncello. “I want to thank the state for this funding to help Brookfield offer a place for the increasingly popular sport of pickleball, along with upgrades to existing public restrooms and an ADA-complaint path to the lower fields.”

“These grants are important to our local communities, and I’d like to thank the Governor for seeing their importance and prioritizing my constituents,” Sen. Harding added. “The improvement to our local community here in Brookfield will enhance recreational opportunities to residents and provide people with a shared sense of community.”

The grants help to fund economic development, community conservation, and quality of life projects for municipalities that are ineligible to receive Urban Act funding.
