Rep. Craig Fishbein, Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson, Town Clerk Barbara Thompson and Registrars Betty Torre and Chet Miller gathered in the mayor’s office as Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill presented the 2016 Democracy Cup to the town. The Democracy Cup is awarded to municipalities that saw the highest voter turnout in the state in the 2016 presidential election. Wallingford won the “large town” division – towns with between 15,000 and 49,999 people – with a voter turnout of 87.13 percent and will be able to keep the cup on display until the next presidential election.
