Rep. Fishbein Supports “See Tracks? Think Train!” Campaign

State Rep. Craig Fishbein joined Lieutenant Governor Bysiewicz, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Deputy Commissioner Laoise King, Wallingford Mayor Vincent Cervoni, State Senator Paul Cicarella, and dignitaries at the Wallingford Train Station for a press conference highlighting the ‘See Tracks? Think Train!’ safety awareness week!
“The slogan is as simple as the idea, always be alert to your surroundings, especially around train tracks!” Rep. Fishbein said. “It’s absolutely frightening how many people are injured or killed by trains every year and those incidents – one every three hours according to the U.S. DOT – are preventable. I want to thank the lieutenant governor and the CTDOT for choosing Wallingford to kickoff this incredibly important rail safety campaign.”
The event also featured remarks from Senator Cohen, Chair of the legislature’s Transportation Committee, Amtrak Police, and a representative from Operation Lifesaver.
The Wallingford Train Station is located at 343 North Cherry St. Wallingford, CT 06492.
