Ulbrich Steel, a Wallingford Staple for More Than 100 Years!

During an afternoon tour of Ulbrich Stainless Steel and Specialty Metals Inc., along with members of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), State Rep. Craig Fishbein met with executives, shop foremen, and the workers who roll, shape and split metal into incredibly specialized configurations depending on customer need.
According to the company, Ulbrich is a precision re-roller and distributor of precision metals used in the medical, automotive, and aerospace industries with 14 locations in five countries across North America, Asia and Europe. Led by CEO Jon Ulbrich and Chairman of the Board Chris Ulbrich, they have a global workforce of over 800 employees committed to the values of unwavering dedication to quality, innovation, and customer service.
Rep. Fishbein’s tour touched on each aspect of work handled at the Wallingford location, including metallurgic and material testing, rolling, slitting, sales, and more. During the tour, they also discussed the range of operations at Ulbrich’s other facilities in North Haven, South Carolina, California, Canada, and Austria.
Safety is a top priority for the company and Rep. Fishbein was provided with safety glasses and cut-resistant arm sleeves before they stepped onto the shop floor.
The Ulbrich company has been an integral part of the Wallingford community for more than a century providing both employment opportunities and philanthropic donations to dozens of organizations, projects and events. Chris Ulbrich said there are about 200 employees just in Wallingford.
