Rep. Fishbein released the following statement in response:
“The brazen and brutal on-camera attack during an attempted car theft in Rocky Hill is another disturbing example that the Democrats’ “smart-on-crime” policies are not working, have emboldened criminals, especially juvenile criminals who have little fear of punishment from a weakened judicial system, and made the people of Connecticut less safe,” Rep. Craig Fishbein, Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee said. “Unless and until we stop providing unlimited chances, strengthen state law to allow law enforcement to arrest and hold criminals in jail where they cannot continue to endanger others, these crimes and brutal attacks will continue. It is no wonder that mere weeks ago they overwhelmingly supported a bill out of committee – HB6889 – that will prohibit the arrest of juveniles who steal up to $500. The Democrats’ recipe contains ingredients that are sure to lead to more crime, and a more fearful law-abiding public. Perhaps it is time for a new chef.”
