RESCHEDULED for Fri. August 28 – Rep. Fishbein to Help Distribute Free, Fresh Produce to Local Families

After Tropical Storm Isaias forced the postponement of a previously planned food distribution event earlier this month, State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90) today announced that the rescheduled food box pickup event will take place on Friday, August 28th at the Connecticut Sportsplex in North Branford.
Rep. Fishbein, who serves Cheshire and Wallingford in the legislature, encourages constituents, and anyone in need, to make the short drive to this wonderful event that provides families in the region with free, fresh produce at a time when many are struggling financially.
The drive-up food box pickup will take place n Friday, August 28th at Connecticut Sportsplex, 216 Foxon Road in North Branford, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the supplies run out.
“This year has been challenging in many ways, and the storm may have delayed our plans by a few weeks, but that wasn’t going to stop us from bringing fresh, healthy food and produce to Connecticut residents-in-need.” Rep. Fishbein said.
Participants will drive into the Connecticut Sportsplex parking lot, forming a line so volunteers can place the boxes of produce in their vehicles. The boxes will be placed in the backseat or trunk of the vehicle to limit contact, and maintain safe distancing.
Working together to organize the event along with Rep. Fishbein, are state representatives Vincent Candelora and Joe Zullo. They plan to also deliver several hundred boxes of produce to area food banks and community centers.
