Pandemic restrictions and social distancing unfortunately kept State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90) from his usual place standing in front of several classes at Mary Fritz School for Read Across America Day, but it certainly didn’t stop him from sharing his passion for reading with the kids.
This year, Rep. Fishbein prerecorded himself reading “An Island Called Liberty” and “The Book of Mistakes” so students wouldn’t miss out on the annual tradition.
Read Across America Day was created in 1988 by the National Education Association as a way celebrate and encourage students of all ages to read and enjoy books. While many programs take place year round, March 2nd was chosen because it coincides with Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
