Rep. Fishbein, Officials Open Wallingford Train Station

State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90) joined fellow Wallingford residents, and local and state officials for the grand opening of the new Wallingford train station, which officials proudly announced as on schedule and on budget.
The first station to be opened as part of the CTrail Hartford Line is located at 343 North Cherry Street and features overhead canopies to protect riders from the elements, a pedestrian bridge over the tracks for safe crossing to north or southbound trains, bike racks and sign and information components to assist travelers, among other amenities. There are also two separate parking lots with 221 spaces close to the station.
“This station, and the myriad upgrades compared to our former stop, should bring positive benefits to the people of Wallingford, and those who can now easily and comfortably visit from other locations,” Rep. Fishbein said. “Transportation is the lifeblood of economic development and I remain cautiously optimistic that this $21 million investment will provide more in benefits to the people and businesses of Wallingford than the price tag.”
The new station is located at 343 North Cherry St., a short distance from the previous station.
According to the Department of Transportation, the total cost for the station is about $21 million.
The CTrail Hartford Line is being designed to allow easy commuter access to towns between New Haven and Springfield, MA. A similar new station is being constructed in Meriden.
