Will also serve on Government Administration and Elections (GAE) and Environment Committees

The Connecticut House Republican Caucus today announced that State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90) will serve as Ranking Member of the legislature’s powerful Judiciary Committee for the 2021-2023 legislative session.

In addition to making the Ranking Member assignments, House Republican Leader-elect Vincent Candelora also announced legislative committee assignments for the upcoming session, appointing Rep. Fishbein to the Government Administration and Elections (GAE) and Environment Committees for the session that begins on January 6, 2021. Ranking members serve as a liaison to caucus members regarding the important issues from each individual committee.

“It has been my honor to fight for lower taxes, limited government and less interference in the day-to-day lives of the people of Cheshire and Wallingford, and I want to thank Rep. Candelora for placing his trust in me to serve as ranking member on the Judiciary Committee,” Rep. Fishbein said. “As a practicing attorney, I have seen first-hand how the policies crafted in this committee affect the people of Connecticut, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass bipartisan legislation that respects the rights of everyone.”

“Representative Fishbein’s deep appreciation for the law and the legislative process that brings it to life is laudable, and during his time in the General Assembly he’s demonstrated a willingness to dive into the minutiae of bills while developing a reputation of being unafraid to ask tough questions of his colleagues–both Democrats and Republicans,” Rep. Candelora said. “His passion to create the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders is a quality that will serve the Judiciary Committee well, and I look forward to seeing what he’ll achieve as our Ranking Member there.”

During his first two terms, Rep. Fishbein served on the Energy and Technology Committee, Public Safety Committee, Commerce Committee, Labor and Public Employees Committee, and Judiciary Committee.
