Rep. Fishbein Honors Teacher of the Year Berthold

During a presentation yesterday afternoon, State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90) congratulated Wallingford teacher Erin Berthold on being named the 2018 Connecticut Teacher of the Year.
Berthold, a first grade teacher at Cook Hill School, was in Hartford for the official awards ceremony held at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. She was joined by family, friends and educators from across the state, including semifinalists and finalists for the honor who were recognized for their contributions to the children of our state.
“Erin is a wonderful example of the dedicated, professional teachers who put their heart and soul into guiding children to become engaged with the world around them,” Rep. Fishbein said. “Her positive attitude and commitment to student achievement are evident when she talks about her students and colleagues and I wish her continued success.”
According to the event program, Ms. Berthold chose to become an educator after the events of 9/11 and received a Master of Science degree in Teaching, Childhood, and Special Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Rep. Fishbein presented the citation on behalf of the entire Wallingford legislative delegation of Senator Fasano, and Reps. Candelora, Mushinsky and Linehan.
