State Rep. and Wallingford Town Councilor Craig Fishbein joined fellow councilors and Mayor Dickinson, for an uncoupling of hoses to officially open Station 7.
More than a hundred Wallingford residents, local elected officials and firefighters from the surrounding community gathered for the official opening of Wallingford’s Station 7 Thursday night.
The brand new, state-of the-art facility is located at 864 North Farms Road and includes about 14,000 square feet of functional space while featuring shared and private spaces for the full-time and volunteer firefighters, a clean room to facilitate the laundering of fire gear and station laundry, bunk rooms for overnight crews, fitness room, stand-by generator in case of power loss and more.
The event featured brief remarks from Chief Richard Heidgard, Mayor Dickinson, Council Chair Cervoni and a blessing from the Rev. John J. Georgia, station tours and refreshments.
