State Representatives Craig Fishbein and Lezlye Zupkus, and State Senators Joe Markley and Len Suzio last week held a successful Town Hall meeting and discussion with Cheshire residents.
During the meeting, the lawmakers discussed the state’s difficult budget situation, specifically the $5.1 billion deficit and lack of a state budget for the new fiscal year that began July 1. Many of the residents who spoke were concerned with possible tax increases and state program cuts while the legislature and governor wrestle with the budget deficit.
Reps. Fishbein and Zupkus spoke in detail about the no-tax-increase House Republican budget proposal – http://www.cthousegop.com/budget/ – and ways to fully fund important state programs while also making much-needed cuts and long-term structural changes to the way the state conceives, passes and implements a budget.
