State Rep. Craig Fishbein maintained tradition and continued to promote literacy by visiting three schools in his district to take part in Read Across America Day events.  Despite a slight delay due to scheduling conflicts with the in-session legislature, Rep. Fishbein was able to visit Amy Mackay’s 5th grade class at Middlefield Memorial School, and Elly Fitzpatrick’s 3rd grade class at Mary Fritz Elementary School and Francesca Hart’s 5th grade class at Pond Hill Elementary School in Wallingford.

Rep. Fishbein read “Who Was Bruce Lee?” by Jim Gigliotti, The Fox, the Fair and the Invention Scare by Kirk Cameron, and “Mistakes that Worked” by Charlotte Foltz Jones.

Because Read Across America usually coincides with Dr. Seuss’s birthday, Rep. Fishbein wore a silly hat in homage to the classic book, The Cat in the Hat. When he finished reading Rep. Fishbein gave the hat to one student in each class.   He donated each book he read to the classroom’s library.
