    Rally for an Affordable CT!

    Rally for an Affordable CT!

For more than an hour Wednesday afternoon, I was joined by Rep. Dave Yaccarino, State Senator Paul Ciccarela, and dozens of fed-up citizens, for a rally outside the Mobil gas station on Route 5 in Wallingford, calling for a special legislative session to deal with inflation and constantly-increasing fuel prices that are hurting citizens.

Connecticut is growing more unaffordable by the day, and an economic report released this week revealed that consumer prices in May went up 8.6%, a new 40-year high. The Core Consumer Price Index (CPI), which excludes food and energy, also soared to over 6%. As inflation surges, my Republican colleagues and I are fighting for additional relief. As prices rise, so do your taxes paid on necessities like energy, food, goods & services. These inflation-driven revenues should be returned to the taxpayers.

Last week, I joined my colleagues to call for a special session to adopt nearly $750 million in additional relief for Connecticut residents, including tax cuts and energy assistance to ease the burden on working- and middle- class residents.
