On Saturday afternoon, State Representative Craig Fishbein joined the members of the Meriden Amateur Radio Club and Wallingford Amateur Radio Group for the ARRL Amateur Radio Field Day as they prepared and practiced using emergency radio communications. The worldwide, annual event features radio operators using Morse Code or “phone” (microphone) communications to record each contact with other operators. Each contact and each visitor to the event scored points for the club. According to the group, there are more than 35,000 licensed amateur radio operators in just the United States and Canada!
