DEEP and DoAg guidelines for State Parks, boat launches and equestrian facilities
As Phase 1 of Governor Lamont’s reopening plan begins today, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Department of Agriculture announced updated guidelines for Connecticut State Parks, boat launches and equestrian facilities.
State Parks and boat launches
Visitors and users of Connecticut State Parks, trails, beaches, boat launches and other areas must adhere to social distancing guidelines, avoid gatherings of more than five people and to wear face masks when in close proximity to others. The parks may also restrict use of certain areas, facilities or attractions, and there may be limited capacity or temporary park closures.
Boat launches will remain open provided social distancing guidelines are adhered to.

Equestrian facilities
The Department of Agriculture issued a long list of guidelines regarding barn use by staff and clients, including boarders, safety precautions to protect employee health, private and semi-private riding lessons, trail guidance and more.
As with State Parks, social distancing rules should be followed and group sizes limited.
According to the published guidelines: The following equine-related activities are not included in phase one of the reopening plan and as such, shall not be conducted at this time.
- Organized competitions/events, including horse shows, rodeos, and competitive trail rides/endurance
- Pony birthday parties
- Day camps
- Pony rides
- Hired carriage rides
- Or any other activity that threatens the 6’ space requirement, unless specifically named.
