In recent years there has been a seismic shift inside the Board of Pardons and Paroles, specifically with regard to a major uptick in sentence commutations. I believe these changes were an overreach of the Board’s authority, and with the replacement of the former Chair it seems the governor has similar concerns. I look forward to meeting with the governor and Board members about possible changes to the procedures, provided the legislature is included.
