In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Rep. Fishbein was able to take an hour out of his busy schedule to read to Mrs. Salz and Mrs. Thorpe’s third-grade classes at Yalesville Elementary School. Before he started to read, Rep. Fishbein asked the students which story they wanted to hear, then allowed them to vote for their favorite. Unfortunately, “Mrs. Wow Never Wanted a Cow” didn’t make the cut, but voting between “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!” and the classic “Green Eggs and Ham” was too close to call so he read both books. After he finished, Rep. Fishbein donated all three books to the school library.
Also on display in the library was a large dragon sculpture made by 5th grade artist Keyshly Mauro. She and her family made the dragon as part of a school reading program celebrating Seuss’ life and brought it for the “Parade of Learners” – similar to Mardi Gras, but with a literary theme – Tuesday night.
