    2021 Legislative Proposals to Watch

    2021 Legislative Proposals to Watch
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

The 2021 legislative session is underway and while it looks different from previous years due to social distancing and virtual meetings and votes, bill proposals are still being made and committees are beginning to discuss new, and rebooted, legislative concepts.

Last year, the session was cut short and effectively ended in March when the capitol complex was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most legislative business, except for a few items taken care of during one-day special sessions, were left untouched. This year, many of those same concepts are being filed again, and there are plenty of new ideas being promoted. It’s usual for some bills to carry over from session to session, however, last year’s capitol shutdown created such a backlog that the sheer number of bill proposals this year is staggering. Each of these proposals has the possibility of affecting you, your family or your employer or neighbors.

In an effort to keep you informed about what the legislature is considering, a long list of important proposals, including many measures I introduced or co-sponsored, can be viewed here. To be sure, many of these proposals will die in committee, others will be modified or rolled into a similar proposal, while still others will push through to a vote before the full legislature nearly in-tact.
