SOUTH WINDSOR — State Representative Tom Delnicki visited Eli Terry Elementary School on Monday morning to take part in the school’s Read Across America Day celebration, serving as a guest reader for students.
During his visit, Rep. Delnicki read “Oh The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss to a few of the fifth grade classes. After the reading, students had the opportunity to ask questions about his work at the State Capitol and learn about how laws are made in Connecticut.
“There’s nothing better than sitting down with a group of kids and a good book,” said Rep. Delnicki. “You could see the excitement in their faces as the story unfolded, and that’s what reading is all about. Books open doors, spark curiosity, and help kids dream big. I’m grateful to the teachers and staff at Eli Terry for the work they do every day to encourage a love of learning.”
Read Across America is a nationwide initiative that promotes literacy and encourages children to develop a lifelong love of reading. Schools across Connecticut participate each year by inviting community members to read with students and celebrate the joy of books.
Rep. Delnicki said he appreciated the opportunity to visit with students and thanked the teachers and staff at Eli Terry Elementary for welcoming him into their classroom.
