State Legislators meet with SW High School Civics students

SOUTH WINDSOR- State Rep. Tom Delnicki (R-14) and Sen. Saud Anwar (D-3) spent time on Thursday afternoon meeting with South Windsor High School students for an engaging discussion on civics, the legislative process and how government operates in the Connecticut legislature.

The discussion was organized by Mrs. Sara Slogesky, the K-12 Social Studies Curriculum Specialist for the South Windsor Public Schools.

Rep. Delnicki talked about always prioritizing the people of South Windsor and making sure they are fully represented in the General Assembly.

Some of the questions asked by students were: What a day is like as an elected official? Why did they decide to run for state office?  What is your favorite part of the job?

Both Tom and Saud mentioned how they work well together for the betterment of the town and most legislation in the General Assembly passes unanimously.

“We are NOT Washington, D.C.! Our government works for you,” said Rep. Delnicki.

Rep. Delnicki mentioned that helping South Windsor constituents resolve tough state issues after the resident received an unsatisfactory answer is the most rewarding part of the job.
