    South Windsor Coyote Forum UPDATE

    South Windsor Coyote Forum UPDATE
This article was archived from the previous WordPress site. Formatting and media should be close, but may not match the original post perfectly.

On February 21st,  I hosted a Coyote Forum at the South Windsor Town Hall along with Robin Bond the South Windsor Police Department Animal Control Officer, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Biologist Chris Vann, and Connecticut Humane Society Wildlife Conflict Resolution Ecologist Laura Simon.

This forum was a great event for the people of South Windsor. We had two experts that discussed how to deal with coyotes in two totally different approaches. Knowledge is always power and the fact that we were able to have two divergent views afforded everyone the largest amount of information they could have.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection collects information regarding coyote interactions and sightings, so be sure to keep them informed if you see one in your neighborhood.

For those unable to attend, see the information below from experts at the event:

    • How to Keep Coyotes out of Your Yard and Keep Your Pets Safe
    • How to Haze for Effective Reshaping of Coyote Behavior
    • A Template Coyote Management and Coexistence Plan
    • Living With Coyotes

Also, click here for an article from the Journal Inquirer regarding the Coyote Forum.

Coverage of the forum will air on channel 16 on Fridays at 10 a.m. and will soon be uploaded to http://gmedia.swagit.com/.

Thank you to all those who attended, and stay tuned for more information going forward.
