Earlier this month, Governor Dannel P. Malloy presented the General Assembly with his Fiscal Year 2018 – 2019 Biennial Budget. To view or read the Governor’s budget address click here.

State Representative Tom Delnicki (South Windsor) issued the following statement in response to the announcement:

“I am disappointed by Governor Malloy’s budget proposal to say the least. I do not believe that his budget goes far enough to provide long-term solutions for Connecticut and my constituents. The governor’s proposal seeks to raise taxes, strikes out tax credits to the middle class and eliminates funding to municipalities that work hard all year to balance their budget; while bailing out the towns that recklessly spend outside of their means,” said Delnicki.

“The governor’s budget proposal also shifts the responsibility of funding the teacher’s pensions onto the towns. Funding teacher’s pensions has always been a responsibility of the State for at least five decades; to attempt to make even a portion of it the responsibility of towns is a step in the wrong direction. Frankly, most of our towns and the residents that reside in them are already struggling to make ends meet without an added expense. I want South Windsor residents to know that I will fight on their behalf in the General Assembly and will work to oppose this proposal any other that will hurt the people of the 14th District,” added Delnicki.
