Rep. Delnicki Honors Seuss During Read Across America Day

State Rep. Tom Delnicki (R-14) spent Monday, March 2nd honoring Dr. Seuss’ birthday while reading to fourth graders in Mrs. Ann Malinowski’s class at Orchard Hill Elementary School as part of ‘Read Across America Day’ events. Rep. Delnicki expressed his excitement for this annual tradition of promoting literacy as well as the conversations with the students after each story, all of which are familiar with and love his yearly Christmas lights display.

“I had a really great time reading to children at Orchard Hill,” Rep. Delnicki said. “There’s something special about Read Across America Day because it instills a love of books and guarantees a world of success and enjoyment of literature in the future.”
The aim of the Read Across America program is to raise literary awareness by motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
According to their website, The National Education Association (NEA) seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program – Read Across America. The event involves more than 3.2 million teachers, librarians, athletes, celebrities, politicians, business professionals and everyday people reading to students across the country.
The annual event was established by NEA in 1998 and has become the largest reading event in the country.
