SOUTH WINDSOR- In celebration of Earth Day, State Rep. Tom Delnicki (R-14) and a group of enthusiastic volunteers armed with gloves and trash bags assembled to clean-up debris and litter around Nevers Park fields, trail and playground.

“I want to thank everyone who came out and joined us for the clean-up. I was amazed we were able to collect so much trash in such a small amount of time,” said Rep. Delnicki. “Taking part in the clean-up, we should all be aware of the volume of trash thrown out of cars that could potentially end up in areas we all gather for recreation. We all need to be cognizant of how to dispose of our trash and what it does to important natural resources.”

Earth Day is officially celebrated on April 22 each year as a day meant to increase awareness of environmental problems, but also a time for many communities to gather together to clean up litter, plant trees, or simply reflect on the beauty of nature.
