Delnicki Recognized During Workers Memorial Day Ceremony

HARTFORD- At the annual Workers Memorial Day ceremony sponsored by the Connecticut AFL-CIO, State Representative Tom Delnicki (R-14) was presented with a Health and Safety Award.

Every year on April 28, the unions of the AFL-CIO observe Workers Memorial Day to remember those who have suffered and died on the job, and to renew the fight for safe jobs.

Rep. Delnicki received the recognition for his dedication to worker health and safety, most importantly, demonstrating by his constant support of the organizing workers so that they may secure union contracts with strong health and safety protections.

“As a member of AFSCME during my time at the MDC, I fought for worker safety and protections and continue to do so as a legislator,” said Rep. Delnicki.

Delnicki received support from the Co-chairs of the Health and Safety Committee Kyle Zimmer and Bruce Grove. Zimmer is a South Windsor resident and on the South Windsor Fire Department, Board of Fire Commissioners.

According to the AFL-CIO, everyday more than 340 workers are killed and more than 6,000 suffer injury and illness because of dangerous working conditions that are preventable.
