The following actions have been taken by Governor Lamont in a state-wide effort to mitigate the outbreak and provide Connecticut residents with appropriate resources:
Governor’s Executive Order 04/02/2020
- The order calls for all the state’s hotels and short-term lodging services to be exclusively reserved for essential workers only. This will provide more resources to those responding to emergency situations and limit excess travel in and out of Connecticut.
Governor’s Executive Order 04/01/2020
- The order institutes safe shopping guidelines. It also provides a 60-day grace period on premium payments, policy cancellations and non-renewals of insurance policies. For more, click here.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/31/2020
- Ensures that child care facilities are practicing social distancing by limiting student groups. It also allows the process of notarization to be done remotely.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/28/2020
- Provides resources for those struggling during the COVID-19 outbreak to find stable housing.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/27/2020
- Allows non-traditional manufacturers of medical supplies to produce medical supplies and hand sanitizers, i.e. distilleries can now make hand sanitizers.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/26/2020
- The order repeals the ‘Plastic Bag’ tax to promote cleaner shopping environments, restricts social gatherings to no more than 5 people, and limits the number of suggested people in public shopping areas.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/25/2020
- The order makes several administrative changes for safe business practices among state agencies. It also officially closes Connecticut public schools through 04/20/2020.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/24/2020
- The order opens the state’s fishing season early by allowing anglers to fish out of Connecticut waters immediately. It extends the official school closure date to 04/20/20, state-wide. The order also makes conforming changes to limit in-person business interactions at the local level.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/23/2020
- The order suspends non-critical probate court operations, authorizes remote notarization, and suspends certain requirements regarding the temporary hire of care workers at long-term care facilities.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/22/2020
- Gives additional guidance for businesses regarding the closure of “non-essential” businesses on Monday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/21/2020
- Changes local budget requirements by moving adoption dates and other requirements. Makes several other declarations to state Medicaid programs and other healthcare revisions.

- Declares that “non-essential” businesses should close beginning Monday, March 23, at 8:00 p.m
Governor’s Executive Order 03/19/2020
- Takes several emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the governor’s civil preparedness and public health declarations including the temporary closure of barbershops, hair salons, tattoo or piercing parlors, and related businesses effective at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020. The postponement of Connecticut’s presidential primary from April 28 to June 2, 2020. And clearance for restaurants, bars, and private clubs to sell alcohol to be consumed off-premise under certain conditions.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/18/2020
- Takes several emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the governor’s civil preparedness and public health declarations. Closes large in-door shopping malls and amusement parks. Expands Medicaid telehealth. Waives certain in-person health screening requirements for patients at facilities that have issued orders limiting public visitation.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/17/2020
- Takes several emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the governor’s civil preparedness and public health declarations. Makes modifications to the governor’s previously enacted waiver of the 180-day school year. Suspends the requirement that public assistance benefit overpayments be immediately recouped. Suspends a state law regarding fingerprinting at police departments.

Governor’s Executive Order 03/13/2020
- Grants the commissioner of the Department of Public Health the authority to restrict visitation at nursing homes and similar facilities in response to the civic preparedness and public health emergencies declared due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Governor’s Executive Order 03/12/2020
- Takes several emergency actions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and the governor’s civil preparedness and public health declarations, including limiting the size of gatherings to 250 people, waiving the 180-day school year requirement, clarifying nursing home visitation restrictions, authorizing DMV to extend renewal deadlines, and relaxing attendance rules for police academy trainees.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), here are some helpful health tips to limit the spread of coronavirus and protect yourself:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then through the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
