Dancho Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Endangered Species Act

Posted on May 19, 2023

(BRIDGEPORT) — On May 19th, State Representative Laura Dancho (R-120), member of the Environment Committee, joined Senator Richard Blumenthal at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Endangered Species Act. The ceremony consisted of a brief award ceremony to commend the work of several zoo staff members and their projects that serve the expansion of habitats and preservation of endangered species, especially relevant to our state.

“I am grateful to Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo for their dedication to raising awareness about endangered species in Connecticut and internationally,” said Dancho. “Surprisingly, there are a number of endangered and threatened species that are right here in our state and spreading awareness is the only way to foster support for the protection of these animals. I am proud to celebrate the anniversary of this legislation and see its effects still going strong fifty years later.”
