Dancho Announces $2 Million Grant for South-End Community Center

Posted on May 15, 2023

(STRATFORD) — On May 15th, State Representative Laura Dancho (R-120) joined Governor Ned Lamont and other elected officials in announcing the approval of a $2 million grant for improvements to Stratford’s South-End Community Center. The center is known to offer a variety of educational and afterschool programs and serve as a fully functional food bank for the local community.

The grant, which was approved through the state’s Community Investment Fund, will allow the community center to introduce new summer education, recreation, and community engagement programs. Additionally, the grant will confirm the launch of a designated food pantry that prides itself on client choice, allowing residents and families to personalize their meals.

“Today, we are celebrating the feeling of hope that is essential to revitalizing and supporting our community,” said Dancho. “I am excited to see how the structural improvements and expanded educational programs will positively impact so many hardworking residents and families of Stratford. Thank you to the Governor, the Stratford Delegation, and all the staff members at the South-end Community Center who continue to contribute so much to our community’s youth!”
