HARTFORD, CT — State Senator Ryan Fazio (R-Greenwich) and State Representative Tina Courpas (R-Greenwich) proudly honored the Greenwich High School Cheer Team for their impressive achievements this season. The team’s dedication and accomplishments demonstrate their talent, determination, and unwavering spirit, bringing immense pride to the Greenwich community.

The Greenwich High School Cheer Team was named Grand Champions at the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Cheer Championship, won the Connecticut State CIAC Championship, and achieved Connecticut’s first-ever victory in the D1 New England Interscholastic Spirit Championship.

“This is the first time any CT team has won the New England Championships.  Thank you to the team for all your hard work and to the parents and coaches who support them for bringing this honor home for the state,” said Representative Courpas.

“This Greenwich High School Cheer Team defines excellence,” said Senator Fazio. “Their remarkable achievements reflect not only talent and athleticism but also perseverance and hard work. Congratulations to them on this historic achievement of winning FCIAC, CIAC, and the New England Championships. They have made all of Greenwich proud and set a high standard for the many young athletes that will follow them!”

Sen. Fazio and Rep. Courpas also recognized Head Coach Julia Vyskocil, along with assistant coaches Nicolette Capalbo, Sidney Ambrogio, and Katherine Ernye.

Head Coach Vyskocil said, “I am so proud of this incredible team—they set out to shock the state, and they did just that, making history as the first CT high school to win the D1 New England Regionals title! Their energy, passion, and hard work—both on the mat and in the community—have truly paid off. Thank you so much, Senator Fazio and Representative Courpas for celebrating these amazing athletes with us—we’re beyond excited to have made Greenwich and the entire state of Connecticut proud!”

“To the Greenwich High School Cheer Team: Congratulations on this extraordinary milestone!” said Senator Fazio. “Your passion, discipline, and perseverance have not only secured your place in history but also inspired an entire community. You are a shining example of what it means to dream big, work hard, and accomplish your goals. Thank you for making Greenwich proud!”
